Waitangi Terrace Station at Kanakanaia sent down 2343 store black face lambs to the Matawhero saleyards yesterday, the sole vendor of store lambs for the weekly sale.

The lambs had been well prepared and drafted, but sold on a slightly weaker market, due to the current low meat schedule prices.

The average price paid was $71.31, the first pick of 119 ram lambs selling for $87.50.

The smaller lambs were being significantly discounted in a market that was supported by two outside buyers, one from Hawke’s Bay, the other from the Bay of Plenty.

The 53 prime sheep sold at recent prices.
