It’s that time of year for the annual charity knits sale of new hand-knitted babies’ and children’s knitting and sundry other items.

Once again, volunteer knitters have donated over 300 items to be sold at low cost to help families keep their children warm this winter.

“Some adult beanies and other items will also be available,” head knitter Judy Livingston, one of six who have contributed the items, said.

“These are high-quality handknits so be in quick.”

It is the eighth year the event has been organised.

“Charities who will receive the proceeds of sales are Alzheimer’s Tairāwhiti, Multiple Sclerosis Gisborne East Coast, Gisborne Concert Band and Gisborne Civic Brass Band,” Judy said.

“We share the proceeds between different smaller charities each year and all are registered charities.”

The knitted items will  be available for cash- only sales on Saturday, May 20, at St Andrew’s Community Centre, Cobden Street,  9am to 1pm.
