The monthly cattle fair at the Matawhero saleyards yesterday attracted a total yarding of 850 head and there was a total clearance. These 32 fat two-and-a-half year steers from Rakopu Farms Ltd at Tolaga Bay sold for $1850.  They weighed 560kg.  A second cut of 10, weighing 527kg, sold for $1700.

Everyone commented that prices were firm on the December fair.

• The full sale report will be in Saturday’s Focus on the Land.
