A course to improve the teaching and delivery of te reo Maori in schools and Maori language courses will be held in Gisborne over the next two days.

Two days of professional learning development is being offered to all Maori medium kaiako and active teachers of te reo Maori, to implement Taki Akina, which is a reo-a-waha (oral) intervention strategy and teaching tool.

Taki Akina is designed to raise learning and teaching outcomes of tamariki and kaiako by working to improve oral language accuracy.

Further professional learning development will be made available to kohanga reo tutors and adult community groups at a later date.

The course is at the Holy Trinity Church Hall in Derby Street today and tomorrow.
