Thousands got out to visit the Gisborne Home & Lifestyle Expo over the weekend.

Event coordinator Andy Searle said the expo, held at the Farmers Air Event Centre over Saturday and Sunday was “very successful”.

“Everyone had a great time, excellent numbers through the doors and it was good to see a lot of young families coming out.”

Crowd numbers dropped off slightly during the All Blacks game on Saturday afternoon, but “thousands” turned out over the two days.

Mr Searle said numbers were definitely up on last year.

He thanked all the exhibitors for turning out.

“The interesting thing was the  number of local exhibitors  there — just using it to raise their profile. They said they were amazed at how many people asked them where they were from. So, for local people, it’s a very good way to profile their businesses.

“Even  if they have been in Gisborne for a number of years, the ability to have their products in front of thousands of people is great value.”

The expo, which is run by The Gisborne Herald, has been held every year since 2011 bar 2020, when it had to be cancelled because of Covid.
