Yesterday's sale at Matawhero was all over in one hour, with just 175 sheep and 35 feeder calves sold.

Most interest was focussed on the 85 prime sheep and the 35 feeder calves. Piritaha P/S at Ngatapa sold 12 heavy prime ewes for $180, while Rimunui Riverside Ltd received $245 for 10 big ram lambs.

There were only 90 store lambs for sale, the best price here was $191 for 13 male lambs from KJ & RE Fisher at Motu. Prices remain steady on recent sales.

The 35 feeder calves, mostly Hereford cross, sold from $52 up to $236.

Prime lambs: Rimunui Riverside Ltd, 10, $245; Aramatua Station Ltd, 5, $226, 7, $213, 7, $211; GJ & SM Peard, 27, $212; Piritaha P/S, 3, $171; Coolmoree Farm P/S, 3, $154, B Bayley, 4, $137.

Prime rams: Rimunui Riverside Ltd, 4 (new season 2ths), $111.

Store male lambs: KJ & RE Fisher, 13, $191, 20, $156, 9, $79.50.

Store ewe lambs: KJ & RE Fisher, 20, $138, 12, $110.

Feeder calves: bulls: Hollow Point Pastures Ltd (Matawai), 1, $236, 4, $232, 6, $231, 3, $195, 2, $60; Colin Kerr, 1, $180, 3, $108.

Heifers: Hollow Point Pastures Ltd, 1, $178, 2, $165, 7, $120, 4, $70; Colin Kerr, 1, $52.
