The convoys have previously taken place during asphalting works and the feedback from night-time road users has been positive.
Asphalting work will then move on Tuesday and Wednesday nights to nearby Tarewa.
However a full closure is not needed for that work, and stop/go traffic lights will be operating with a pilot vehicle to guide motorists safely through the site.
Road users should expect delays of up to 15 minutes at the site.
“This work is important resurfacing work to improve the condition and resilience of the network post-Cyclone Gabrielle,” an NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi statement said.
“NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi acknowledges a number of sites have had closures and stop/go traffic management over the summer and we appreciate people’s support while this work takes place.”
This overnight work remains weather dependent and NZTA advised all road users to regularly check its interactive Journey Planner for up-to-date daily information.
If the wet weather delays work at any stage, the road will be open that night.
If the work is delayed, the following night is reserved for the work.
