The Z Energy service station on Gladstone Road is closed for a major refurbishment.

“It’s like the site is getting a birthday, a new kit,” said Hamish Waddington, Z Energy retail manager for the East Coast region.

Petrol pumps are being replaced and fuel tanks relined. This will extend their life, and ensure fuel storage is compliant with current requirements.

The service station interior will also undergo a major refit, including new and larger display cabinets providing space for a wider variety of fresh food.

The changes will include an upgrade to the store’s coffee machine, providing customers with an improved coffee experience.

Mr Waddington is looking forward to the reopening, which is scheduled for October 10.

“This fresh new layout will future proof the site for another 10 years,” he  said.

Takeaway outlet Burger King is still open for business, with access from Cobden Street.
