Gisborne hosts the country’s best remote control car racers over Easter, starting today.

The Gizzy RC Club (Gisborne Remote Control Club) will stage the 2026 1/10th scale off-road nationals at its Manutūkē track.

The event will bring together top competitors from across New Zealand. They will be vying for national titles with high-performance electric buggies and trucks capable of reaching impressive speeds over a purpose-built dirt track.

“Club members have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the venue is ready for a national-level event,” a championships spokesman said.

“Significant upgrades have been made to the Manutūkē track and facilities, including improvements to the racing surface, layout refinements and the installation of a covered drivers stand to keep competitors protected from the elements.

“Thanks to the support of Sutherland Automotive Gas and Gear. Spectators are welcome, and the club encourages locals to come along and check out the action firsthand.

“Whether you’re a motorsport fan or simply looking for something different to enjoy over the Easter break, the nationals offer a unique and family-friendly event right here in Gisborne.”

The Manutūkē track is at 269 Waingake Rd.
