FIGURES from Gisborne District Council rainfall gauges in the city show just how variable the heavy rain was this morning in Gisborne.
For the 24 hours to 7am today the gauge in Stout Street recorded 105 millimetres.
Yet the gauges in other parts of the city were far short of
that.
The Paraone Road and Wheatstone Road gauges showed 30-32mm, by comparison, and the Waikanae Creek gauge 26mm.
On the East Coast there were heavy falls too over the 24-hour period.
