National Geographic Orion (first cruise ship to berth this season on the new wharf 7) – berthed behind the Global Striker.

Eastand Port had a solid month of shipping in November with 10 log ships taking away 240,000 tonnes of logs.

“We’ve already had two log ships in this month, giving us a good headstart, with seven more hopefully before New Year,” a port spokeswoman said.

“The cruise season has well and truly kicked off with the first four having been and gone. Thankfully they managed to escape the poor weather we have seen.”

The National Geographic Orion, the first to berth this season on the new Wharf 7, is pictured docking behind log ship Global Striker.

“It’s been great to welcome cruise ships  back and nice to see some different vessels in port and out in the bay,” the spokeswoman said.

“We expect another three cruise ships for December before ramping up for seven visits in January.”
