A catered high tea with live music, auctions and a fashion show is the next big fundraiser for Cancer Society Gisborne East Coast.

Bring a mum, a special someone or get a group together for the Mother's Day High Tea at Matawhero Wines vineyard on Sunday, May 9.

“It doesn't have to be your mum. It could be that special person in your life,” Cancer Society GEC centre co-ordinator Lianne Jenkins says.

“For some, Mother's Day can be a hard time. This is the chance to celebrate with that special person.”

Organisers are on the hunt for cake stands, large tea or coffee pots, and three-piece sets (cup, saucer and bread and butter plate).

Any contributions of those would be much appreciated.

As it is a high tea, dressing up for the occasion is encouraged but not demanded, as it is all about having a bit of fun.

Tickets are $50 each and all proceeds go to Cancer Society GEC, to people in the community dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

The society is a charitable trust funded entirely by community donations.
