An overturned truck is blocking State Highway 2 in Wairoa.

An overturned truck is blocking State Highway 2 in Wairoa.

A trailer transporting sheep overturned on State Highway 2 in Wairoa earlier today.

Police were called to the crash involving a truck and trailer unit about 10.40am.

“Thankfully, the driver was not injured, however, unfortunately a number of livestock were on board.”

Some sheep had died but police were unable to confirm how many.

SH2 has fully reopened after spending most of the day under stop/go traffic management.
