Opinion

Makaraka, as the gateway to Gisborne, is overlooked again in the assertion in Saturday’s Gisborne Herald that “Champers Motor Lodge is the first motel visitors see on arriving in Gisborne”.

No — visitors first see Coastlands Motel, by the Roseland Tavern at Makaraka, and just a few moments down the road into Gisborne can avail themselves of the Highway Motel.

Both are attractive and well-patronised by tourists, professionals and visiting workers.
