Tairāwhiti dog triallists featured strongly at the Ōpōtiki dog trials on Sunday. Merv Utting and Henry Hindmarsh  did well in the heading events, and Allen Irwin and Taylor Rika shared the hunt titles.

Hindmarsh also featured in the hunt events with a couple of second placings with his dog Crim.

“Thanks to all the judges, competitors and everyone that helped out on the day,” said a trials spokesman.

Long head (judge Henry Gaddum) 29 runs: Henry Hindmarsh, Spot, 94 points, 1; Merv Utting, Guy, 93.5, 2; Merv Utting, Bob, 93, 3; Graeme Cook, Glen, 92.5, 4; John Foss, Bindi, 93. 5.
