The penultimate cruise visit of the season happened today when the Norwegian Spirit came calling again and it was a successful day, a ship’s agent said.

“The bay was a little bit choppy, but the tenders coped okay,” he said. “A big percentage of the 1860 passengers on board came ashore.

“There were plenty of excursions and many chose to go shopping in the CBD.”

The range of excursions on offer included two trips on the steam train Wa165, visits to the stingrays at Tatapouri, wineries, a rural experience and cycle tours.

The 268m long, 50m high, 14-deck Norwegian Spirit was scheduled to sail for Napier around 6pm.

The Seven Seas Navigator will complete the cruise season in Gisborne on Wednesday, February 4.
