NO SALE: The weekly Matawhero sale was cancelled yesterday. File picture

The weekly Matawhero sheep sale yesterday was cancelled due to a lack of stock.

Farmers are hanging on to their stock due to the excellent grass growth on farms at present.

A stock agent said last week that the numbers will build up eventually because farmers will need to shed stock ahead of winter.

The monthly cattle fair will take place at the saleyards on Tuesday.
