A multicultural women’s gala at the Lawson Field Theatre Rose Room tomorrow is to support International Women’s Day (IWD).

The event is being hosted by the Tairāwhiti Multicultural Council (TMC).

International Women’s Day is a global celebration of the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

The campaign theme for IWD 2024,  #Inspire Inclusion, emphasises the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes and create environments for women to experience a sense of belonging in a place where they feel respected and empowered.

The event will celebrate the significant contributions of women and girls from multicultural communities within our society and underscore the importance of empowering women economically to achieve gender equality and promote diversity and inclusion.

The gala tomorrow evening will feature performances from eight diverse groups, all composed of talented women, showcasing the rich cultural heritage and talents within our community.

Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with music, dance and cultural expressions.

In addition to the performances, the gala will also include food stalls offering a variety of multicultural cuisines, craft stalls featuring home-made goods and activities such as henna and face painting.
