Free mulch is on offer at Parkview Nursery this weekend.
Gisborne District Council will have a digger to load up trailers between 9am and 3pm tomorrow and Sunday. Parkview Nursery is next to 1017 Aberdeen Road and there will be signs to ensure road safety.
The free mulch is fromlast year’s beach clean-ups. The wood was chipped and left to desalinate for more than six months.
GDC liveable communities director Michele Frey said the mulch had not caused any issues for plant growth in sites where it has been used previously.
“This is now available for our community to use in their gardens. Bring a trailer this weekend and we’ll load it up for you.
“while every care has been made to ensure this mulch has gone through desalination (a process of removing salts, other minerals and contaminants) we cannot take any responsibility for the quality of this mulch that has been made from it.”
