THE vast majority (83.76 percent) of Herald online poll respondents say they have never thrown inorganic rubbish out of their car or boat.

That is a resounding 263 votes out of 314 compared to 41 people (13.06 percent) who said they had and 10 people (3.18 percent) who said “maybe”.

Many respondents were adamant they had not done so, and condemned those who had.

Examples included —

“I don't believe that's acceptable - AT ALL.”

“Ignorance and entitlement are not part of my DNA.”

“Never have. It's a real shame to see the amount of rubbish around the city, especially at the beach.”

No I never have . . . a different matter is the matter of dumping rubbish down at the beach. I think it's about time GDC put cameras down at the beach.”

“No way, I try to be a tidy Kiwi.”

“People who do this are basically pooing in their own backyards. Idiots!”

“Who would do such a stupid thing?”

The only poll respondent who admitted to throwing out inorganic waste, and made a comment said: “Probably as a very young person, not in the last 70 years.”
