A Tongan national has admitted three historical sex offences, involving a girl under the age of 12 years.

Leimoni Raymond Taofi was helped by a court-appointed interpreter to enter his guilty pleas during a Crown call-over fixture in Gisborne District Court yesterday.

The charges related to offending here nearly 10 years ago — attempted sexual violation by rape, sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, and indecent assault.

Judge Warren Cathcart further remanded Taofi in custody for sentence on March 6 next year.
