Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in relation to two serious assaults that allegedly took place in Wairoa in March.

An arrest warrant was executed at a Chamberlain Avenue address in the town yesterday morning where police took the man into custody.

He has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Police said as the case was now before the court they were unable to comment further.

The arrested man was due to appear in the Gisborne District Court yesterday via audio visual link.
