We all know the Green Party have good intentions, but they don’t seem to have the intelligence to work out the final consequences of their proposals.
For instance, they persuaded the Government to pass legislation that will force farmers to reduce their livestock numbers. As the world population is escalating, there is a dire shortage of food, especially protein. So with New Zealand expecting to produce less meat, the void would be filled by other countries that are less efficient than New Zealand’s pastoral farmers — so the consequence will be an increase in global warming gases.
The Green Party also made the Government pass legislation to say that by 2024 a percentage of petrol must come from biofuel (now on hold). This means that good pastoral and cropping land would be used to grow crops for making biofuel, reducing the production of food to feed the world population.
But the final absurdity is that they have protesters marching the streets demanding we stop using fossil fuels immediately.
This would mean that from tomorrow we would have no ships, aeroplanes, bulldozers and heavy machinery to fix our roads, no fire brigade, and no ambulances. This demand is so utterly stupid and ridiculous that I believe the Green Party should change its name to the Looney Party.
