Looks like it is going to stay soggy underfoot, if MetService’s latest monthly outlook is anything to go by.

The official weather agency is forecasting a “stormy and unsettled June”, with it being wetter than usual in many places.

MetService says large temperature variations are likely.

For the North Island’s East Coast from Wairarapa to Gisborne and East Cape, the outlook for June is for above normal rainfall.

It is expected to be warm for the first week of the month, then cool down for the second week — but overall, the month should be warmer than usual.

MetService says winter starts on an unsettled note, we will keep looking to the Tasman Sea for rainmakers and “the risk of severe weather continues”. — RH
