On Monday at the Tairawhiti Environment Centre from 9am people are welcome to join a training workshop for Litter Intelligence, a citizen science platform that enables community groups to contribute to a growing national litter database by monitoring their local beaches and auditing the rubbish.

This free workshop will pass on the skills in surveying, data collection, and health and safety that will allow attendees to play an important part in this long-term, grassroots effort.

Participants will learn how to set up and run a survey, sort and record rubbish in an audit, and add data into the national database and solutions platform.

The workshop will go until 2pm and participants will travel to a beach to conduct a litter survey.
