Opinion

I have a message for everyone. Please stop surfing, swimming way off-shore (like some idiot I watched on Thursday afternoon at Wainui Beach), boating, driving around for a nosy and generally behaving as if this is an extension of your holidays.

Our emergency services have enough to worry about without having to think about whether you are going to need to be saved from yourself.

If you get into trouble, I doubt any of our frontline personnel are going to be keen to get close to you to administer CPR or first aid.

Stay home and use shanks's pony to exercise. YouTube has great exercise sessions available to help you work out.

Spare a thought for the cops and medical staff, like my sister and my son, who are harried enough without having to worry about you.
