The annual grain maize harvest still has about six weeks to run.

Corson Grain’s procurement manager Richard Hyland said they have been making good progress.

“We’d be about 60 percent through and harvesting will continue through into late June.”

Mr Hyland said the weather has slowed harvesting down a bit and the impact of the cyclones on the region’s grain maize crop has definitely affected yields and harvest conditions.

“The extent of the crop loss due to the storms is being more fully assessed as the harvest progresses.”
