Autumn leaves, pine cones and pods provided a palette for children involved in a holiday activity at Eastwoodhill Arboretum yesterday. The young enviro-artists created “mandalas” from nature’s colours at the arboretum.

Mandala is a Sanskrit word for “circle”. In Hinduism and Buddhism, it is a symbol for the universe. Mandala is now a commonly-used term for a circular, radiating, geometric pattern.

The children’s creations have been preserved in photographs.
