Wainui Beach is among the finalists in the NZ Herald’s annual New Zealand Best Beach competition.

Wainui has been named one of the 10 finalists in the Best Surf Beach category of the contest which is decided by a public vote.

The other finalists are Raglan’s Manu Bay, Mount Maunganui, Muriwai (Auckland), Ōhope, Piha, Sandy Bay, Waihi, Waipū Cove and Whangamatā.

The competition features five categories – Best Family Beach, Best Surf Beach, Best City Beach, Best Hidden Gem Beach and Best Camping Beach.

All finalists were decided by public nomination.

The public has until 11.59pm on Sunday January 25 to vote for their favourites at nzherald.co.nz/bestbeach and be in to win one of 10 $100 Four Square gift cards.

The winners will be announced on Sunday, February 1.
