The geographical reach of the Trust Tairāwhiti Eastland Rescue Helicopter was underlined over the past week through missions to several regions.

On December 4 at 6pm, the helicopter responded to a vehicle crash in Ōmāio Bay, between Ōpōtiki and Waihau Bay.

The on-board critical care flight paramedic assessed and treated the patient, who was flown in a stable condition to Whakatāne Hospital.

On December 6 at 2.55pm, the crew was tasked to Te Araroa for a trauma incident.

Following assessment and treatment, the patient was transported in a stable condition to Gisborne Hospital.

On December 7 at 10.15am, the team responded to a trauma incident in Tūtira, Hawke’s Bay.

The patient was assessed and treated by the on-board critical care flight paramedic before being flown in a serious condition to Hastings Hospital.

On December 9 at 5.25pm, the crew responded to Waimana, near Whakatāne, for a medical event.

The patient was assessed and treated on scene before being flown in a critical condition to Waikato Hospital.

On December 11 at 8.30pm the chopper completed an inter-hospital transfer from Gisborne Hospital to Waikato Hospital.
