Merv Utting and Bob will be among the Poverty Bay dog trial contingent heading south  for the Tux South Island and New Zealand championships at the Warepa Collie Club near Balclutha. The competitions start on Monday (May 22) and run right through the week.

Ten competitors from the Bay will be in action in the grand finale of the dog trial season. They will be taking 15 heading dogs and 18 huntaways.

Based on the North Island titles in Taupo earlier this month, the local competitors look set to perform well. Merv Utting and Bob(placed fourth in the longhead event at Taupo.
