Surf Life Saving New Zealand (SLSNZ) will hand out its annual Awards of Excellence tomorrow night at Te Papa in Wellington and several Gisborne lifeguards are strong contenders for honours.

The awards recognise performances in lifesaving, sport and education.

Adam Glenister, from Riversun Wainui Surf Life Saving Club is a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category.

Ana Naden, of Kaiaponi Farms Waikanae, is a finalist for Lifeguard of the Year.

Dawson Building Midway’s Rama Robertson is a finalist in Instructor of the Year.

Glenn Hamblyn from Midway is a finalist for Patrol Support Officer of the Year.

Wainui’s Dion Williams is a finalist for Surf Official of the Year.

Midway’s Jack Gavin is a finalist for Coach of the Year.

The SLNZ Awards of Excellence feature finalists selected from the winners of various regional Awards of Excellence held earlier in the year.
