FOUR people were taken to Gisborne Hospital yesterday morning after a ute and a campervan collided on State Highway 2 just south of the Waipaoa River roundabout.
A small dog on board the ute died in the crash, which happened at around 10.30am.
“The ute rolled as a result of
the crash, and the campervan left the road and struck a power pole,” an emergency services spokesman said.
“The passenger in the ute, a man, suffered head and other injuries, and was transported to hospital by ambulance in a moderate to serious condition. The ute driver, also a man, was less seriously injured.
“The elderly man and woman in the campervan had some minor injuries.”
