The number of Covid-19 cases reported daily in Tairāwhiti is decreasing.

There has been between two and 20 reported cases each day in the past week, a Te Whatu Ora-Tairawhiti spokewoman said.

One patient is in hospital with Covid-19.

Gisborne deaths remain at 35.

There were 75 active cases up to 1pm last Monday.

There has been a total of 24,412 Covid cases in Gisborne.

The Ministry of Health reported 3138 deaths across the nation (to 1pm on Monday).

There are 6530 active cases and a total of 2,319, 839 cases in all.

In the week to Monday, there were 23 reported deaths.

One was from Northland, nine from Auckland, two were from Waikato, one from Hawke’s Bay, one from MidCentral (Manawatu), one from Whanganui, one from Wellington, one from Nelson Marlborough, four from Canterbury and two from Southern (Otago-Southland).

The Te Whatu Ora-Tairāwhiti spokeswoman said there had been a slight increase in influenza cases this week.
