ALMOST 50 dairy goats were entered in this year’s competition at last weekend’s Poverty Bay A&P Spring Show.

Dairy goat head steward Dennis Weatherall said the entry was a very pleasing result in a trying year for all.

Local Toggenburg breeder Heather Weatherall tasted success at the Show, winning Champion Doe and the Champion Challenge.

The Junior Champion Doe was taken out by Hawke’s Bay Toggenburg breeder Carol Harrington who also won the Champion Buck and took out Supreme in Show with Highview Thomas.

Judge Herbie Blakemore, long-time supporter of the Poverty Bay A&P Show, made the trek down to Gisborne and awarded local breeder Lucy Bruce’s Saanen doe winner of the Herd Register Udder class.
