Three convoys of vehicles are running daily in both directions to and from Gisborne and Tokomaru Bay from today.

The piloted convoys are leaving from Tokomaru Bay 4 Square and the Waimata Valley/Back Ormond intersection at 8am, 11am and 2pm, a Gisborne District Council Facebook post said.

“This will be in place until further notice.

“Ongoing assessments will be made to maintain safe travel and any requirements for road maintenance.”

The route goes over Waimata, Hokoroa, Tauwhareparae, Fernside and Mata roads.
