BEACH CLEANERS: Contractors have been working since Monday, clearing debris from the beach at Tolaga Bay. Picture supplied

Eastland Wood Council contractors, supported by local forestry companies, have been removing wood debris from Tolaga Bay beach since Monday.

They started at the surf club end of the beach. Wood council chief executive Philip Hope said the EWC was pleased to continue to help the community recover from the cyclones.

“This work comes as part of the forestry sector’s overall efforts to clean up beaches and neighbouring properties after cyclones Hale and Gabrielle. Our teams have really worked hard to support clean-up efforts across Tairāwhiti.”

The public have been asked to stay well clear while the work continues.
