POLICE seek information from the public as they investigate an aggravated robbery complaint in Whataupoko a week ago, in which a pizza delivery man was assaulted and robbed after making a delivery.

The incident happened outside a house in Stanford Crescent, off Ballance Street, at about 9pm on Sunday, July 22.

“The delivery man, aged in his mid-20s, had taken pizza to the house and was returning to his vehicle when he was attacked,” said Detective Nick Wilkie.

“Two men, described as Maori or Pacific Islanders, accosted him, threatened him with a knife, and robbed him of cash, some clothing, an item of jewellery and his cell phone.”

Detective Wilkie said the offenders ran off towards Ballance Street after the incident.

“The delivery man suffered some minor bruising, but was not significantly injured.

“We would like to hear from any residents in that area who might have seen something, or from anyone who was driving or walking by that area on the night of Sunday July 22, at around 9pm.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Gisborne police on 06 869 0200, or call anonymously on Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
