THE driver of a stationwagon escaped injury this morning when his vehicle went out of control in the Gisborne main street and collided heavily with a palm tree in the middle of the road.
The accident happened just west of the Gladstone Road-Peel Street corner at about 7.15am.
“The vehiclewas seen being driven on the wrong side of the road just prior to the crash,” a police spokesman said.
“A tow truck was called because the front of the stationwagon sustained considerable damage and could not be driven away. The male driver was uninjured.”
