The section of water main break on Ormond Road that burst in the early hours of yesterday morning and flooded nearby properties has been repaired.
The four metre section of water pipe on Ormond Road near the corner of Bulli Street was excavated, replaced, filled and flushed clean. About 27
properties had no water supply after the breakage. Supply has since been reinstated.
A Gisborne District Council staff member yesterday visited each affected property to explain the on-property flushing process to owners at home. Information was left for those not home.
Properties affected with water, silt or debris will be cleaned up over the next few days. The clean-up will also continue on footpath and curb areas. Traffic management will remain in place for the weekend and until a road surface reinstatement is completed.
