Beef and Lamb New Zealand is to stage a Farming for Profit workshop, titled The Efficient Ewe: Lessons Learnt, in Gisborne next week.

A similar event will be held in  Wairoa.

The Gisborne event is at the Otara Station wool room on Wednesday, August 16, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.

It will be the first of a series of workshops looking at sheep performance.

“This session will focus on maximising production and profitability,” Beef + Lamb NZ senior extension manager Mark Harris said.

“AgFirst Gisborne will draw on its analysis of accounts over the past 10 years to look at trends and insights.

“Local farmers and experts will also share their experiences of driving sheep productivity.

“This event will provide valuable insights and practical strategies to enhance your farming practices,” he said.

“Arrive at 2.30pm for a cuppa and the event will kick off at 3pm, with AgFirst Gisborne setting the scene of sheep performance on the East Coast, looking at accounts analysis trends and insights over the past 10 years.

“This will be followed by a panel discussion with local farmers and experts on sheep performance drivers,” Mr Harris said.

“They will share their experiences, tips and how they achieved higher productivity in sheep farming.

“Following the panel discussion, stay on for a barbecue catch-up.

“So, invite your staff and neighbours, load up the car and join us for a great afternoon with your local B+LNZ and AgFirst team.”

The same workshop will be held at the Tawhara Woolshed, 203 Tawhara Road, Wairoa, from 2.30 to 5.30pm on Thursday, August 17.
