Just 593 sheep were sent to the Matawhero saleyards yesterday for the weekly sale, including 20 prime lambs sold on behalf of the Cancer Society Gisborne for a total sum of $2797.

Prime ewes are being heavily discounted, heavy ewes selling from $90 down to $80.

In the store lamb pens Tarere 2 Trust, at Te Araroa, received $137 for a pen of 62 male lambs.

Homebush Station Ltd, at Ormond, also was paid $137 for 18 lambs.  This vendor was paid $112.50 for a pen of 84 store ewe lambs and $125 for 14 mixed sex lambs.
