Night-time road closures will be in place in Gisborne city centre from tomorrow as a $3.3 million asphalting programme comes to an end.

Asphalt road works will take place at four locations from 7pm to 6am.

Work starts at the Peel Street and Palmerston Road intersection from tomorrow to Monday.

Work then moves to Roebuck Road (between Gladstone and Norman roads) from Monday to Wednesday.

The Roebuck Road and Gladstone Road roundabout will be closed from Thursday to Sunday before work moves to the Lytton Road and Gladstone Road roundabout from Monday, March 9, to Wednesday, March 11.

“Road closures are required for all works and detours will be in place,” a Gisborne District Council spokesman said.

“Parking will be removed close to the work sites and vehicles should be parked away from the above areas to allow machinery access to the area.

“Traffic controllers will be onsite to assist residents with access and we apologise for any disruption or inconvenience during these works.

“The above sites will conclude the $3.3m asphalt programme funded by the Government's Provincial Growth Fund, which has included the resurfacing of Lytton Road.”
