Beef and Lamb New Zealand will run another of its Farming for Profit field days in Nuhaka next week, where sustainable worm control through management changes will be a focus.

It will be held at Pukeorapa Station, in the station woolshed, 139 Pukeorapa Rd.

“Join us for an interactive day where you will hear from a local farmer and an independent industry expert about worm control,” a B+LNZ spokeswoman said.

“Learn how grazing management can help control worms and what to do when liver fluke and barber’s pole undermine your efforts to reduce drench use in ewes.”

The event will be facilitated by Greg Tattersfield, with subject matter expertise from Hawke’s Bay veterinarian Richard Lee.

“The day will identify good practice in managing sheep productivity in hill country ewes,” the spokeswoman said.

“It will communicate knowledge and learning in parasite management to a wider audience, and also focus on managing resistant worms, liver fluke and Haemonchus [barberpole worm].

Attendees will get insights that farmers can go home and implement.

“This day will be for all levels of knowledge and will include core internal parasite management principles,” she said.

The field day runs from 1pm to 4pm on April 17.

Registrations are required via B+LNZ.
