Belinda Campbell.
Budding actors have the opportunity to attend an acting workshop next month with a theatre professional. Former Gisborne woman Belinda Campbell is an actor, writer, director and drama teacher. The workshop is timely for those thinking of auditioning for Musical Theatre Gisborne’s show Mamma Mia! next year.
New actors will
have an easy-to-access introduction while experienced actors will have the opportunity to deepen their practice.
Campbell trained at the National Academy of Singing and Dramatic Art and has performed in more than 25 plays and musicals, television commercials and short films. Her recent stage credits include Bombshells, Outside In, Macbeth, Cosi, and The Bookworm. As co-founder and artistic director of Melbourne’s Wit Incorporated theatre company, she teaches the children’s drama programme, Wit Kids.
Under Wit Incorporated, Campbell has directed A Scandal in the Weimar, Couch Potato, Ophelia Thinks Harder, and more than 17 children’s shows. Her writing (including five plays) has been performed at Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Melbourne Fringe Festival. Her work, I Am A Monster, was shortlisted in this year’s Playmarket New Zealand’s Plays for the Young Competition.
