DON’T STOP: Isn’t that Stevie Nicks? No, it’s the next best thing – a talented local who has taken on the Fleetwood Mac singer’s character to perform in the Gisborne showcase, Stars in Their Eyes. The talent show comes back to Gisborne next week. Picture supplied
By public vote via social media Gizzy School Lunches and Hospice Tairawhiti will be recipients of funds raised at this year’s extravaganza, Stars in Their Eyes.
Inspired by the TV talent series Stars in Their Eyes, and organised by James Packman and Walter “the Wiz” Walsh, the glittering programme offers
a showcase of talent in which members of the public take on the guise and charisma of showbiz stars. The Gisborne shows will present a variety of entertainers — new and seasoned — who will be heroes, just for one day, as they perform as well-known singers.
One by one about 15 acts will take the stage where they will be introduced by the Wiz and will perform one song each. The repertoire will extend from the 1940s to present day. A couple of surprises can be expected and a crowd-pleaser is promised to round each show off.
Stars in Their Eyes, War Memorial Theatre, Saturday, November 23, 3pm and 7.30pm. Tickets $20 from ticketek at https://tinyurl.com/su6mmaw, or from the Lawson Field Theatre, 12pm - 5pm weekdays.
