■ Country Cabaret

A dairy farmer in danger of going broke sees a dazzling nightclub performance and decides to save his farm by turning his big old barn into a country cabaret. All goes well until his traditionalist grandfather steps in, out to put an end to such follies. In French, with subtitles.

■ Triangle of Sadness

Social influencers Carl and Yaya are invited on to a luxury cruise ship alongside a group of out-of-touch wealthy people. Then a brutal storm hits the ship, pirates attack and some of the guests escape to an island. There, roles reverse, and a cleaning woman becomes leader of the group.

■ Paper Spiders

Recently widowed Dawn experiences growing anxiety as her daughter Melanie plans to move away for college. An argument with a hostile new neighbour aggravates Dawn’s mental condition and she begins to exhibit signs of persecutory delusional disorder. Melanie tries to help but Dawn’s paranoia spirals out of control, prompting Melanie to make a difficult choice.

■ My Sailor, My Love

A widowed retired sailor’s adult daughter hires a housekeeper, a woman in her mature years, to help him. Although he initially rejects company, the father warms to the woman and romance develops.
