Locals who fancy vintage furniture or are looking to decorate their interiors with a period vibe can approach local furniture restorer Jason Akuhata-Brown at his new pop-up shop at Roebuck road this Saturday.

His collection includes tables, chairs, almirahs, and other wooden furniture which date back from late 1800s right through to the 80s.

“There is a wide range of items that people can choose from,” he said.

“When people come here, they have three options. One they can purchase an item and take it home unrestored, second they buy a completely restored item and lastly they can also commission to restore an item that meets their needs.”

Mr Akuhata-Brown said every person opting for the first option would have their names entered in a draw.

Winners of the draw will get an opportunity to have a one-on-one lesson with him.

“The lucky person will have an up-close session to learn how to restore vintage furniture.”

The furniture collection is a result of storing unwanted items for over three years.

“Most of the stuff comes from house clearances and people who are done using the stuff, and if not collected would only end up at the landfill.

“I have been restoring items since 1996 and it has been in my blood.”

104 Roebuck road. Pop-up shop. Saturday March18. From 9am onwards.
