Get a taste of Gisborne’s grunge underground with three new bands all set to perform at Smash Palace tomorrow.
Following a long absence from the Gisborne live scene, Joe Alexander returns with Fighting like Stags bandmate Ben Emms, AJ Bradley, Albert Gooding and Andrew Cornford as “spaghetti grunge” quintet TheVoles.
Litter, fronted by Charles Barrie along with Subset BC bandmates Paulus McKinnon and Lincoln Wright, will perform a set of guitar-based originals, which, while sharing a similar dark groove vibe to the aforementioned bass ensemble (Subset), share a different aspect of Barrie’s songwriting.
Opening the live portion of the night, Darren Byrne (Cellardoor, Killing Floor, Status Anxiety) has pulled together some of the stars of the Gisborne scene and fronts folk grunge four-piece Model Citizen in their debut public performance.
Should be a night of fresh live tunes, gritty guitar tones and head-nodding not to be missed.
