“Just for fun” is how local painter Claire Kizlink describes her latest exhibition displayed at Verve Cafe.

Her artwork consists of a selection of oil and acrylic paintings which carry a feeling of “motion and excitement”.

Kizlink said: “I felt after the cyclone, everyone would be feeling very dull and done. So why not have an exhibition for some fun and bring some normalcy.”

One of the paintings that she particularly likes is called 50% which she recalls was an artwork she drew about 20 years ago and is based off one of her several “interesting” moments in America.

Most of her paintings, she says, are derived from her personal “joyful” experiences.

For instance her artworks of race horses are from a time when she enjoyed riding on her “beautiful thoroughbreds”.

Lobster on an operating table is another one of her “funny collections” which includes a number of tense surgeons surrounding the marine creature.

“I love the British lobster and have had many friends in medical situations. That’s how it came about.”

Kizlink said all the proceeds of her sale would go to a cyclone relief fund selected by Verve Cafe.

“I hope people enjoy it and contribute for a good cause.”
